The Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) of the Ministry of Commerce, in its role as the Secretariat and Enforcement Body of the National Commission for Consumer Protection (NCCP) and Cambodia Competition Commission (CCC), successfully organized a series of nationwide dissemination workshops on the “Implementation of Competition Law, Consumer Protection Law and Related Regulations.”

The workshops were conducted in Siem Reap (February 2025), Battambang (March 2025), and Preah Sihanouk Provinces (May 2025), along with surrounding areas, in collaboration with the RCEP Implementation Support Program (RISP) under the Regional Trade for Development (RT4D) project, supported by the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

The events were presided over by the Director General of the CCF, Provincial Governors and Deputy Governors, along with representatives from the Australian Embassy in Cambodia and RT4D project manager/officials. The workshops brought together approximately 520 participants, including representatives from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association, Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia, Cambodian Small and Medium Enterprises Association, private sectors, provincial departments, Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Department of Commerce, CCF provincial branches, vendors, women-led businesses, disadvantaged groups, professors, and students were also actively involved.

The primary objective of the workshops was to raise public awareness and understanding of Cambodia’s Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law among key stakeholders. The initiative also aimed to foster dialogue and strengthen cooperation between public and private sectors, address challenges, and identify the support needed to enhance effective enforcement of these laws. The platform enabled participants to share experiences, propose solutions, and commit to ongoing communication and collaboration to promote compliance and improve implementation nationwide.

The insights gathered from all these workshops will contribute to the development of a comprehensive training course targeting CCF enforcement officers, with the aim of reinforcing transparent, accountable, and effective law enforcement in Cambodia.

This initiative demonstrates Cambodia’s commitment to inclusive regulatory outreach and effective law enforcement in support of fair markets, consumer welfare, and regional integration under the RCEP.
